Web-FRANC2D Simulation Applet Details
This applet is a web-version of FRANC2D, a two-dimensional crack propagation
simulator (copyright Paul Wawrzynek and Anthony Ingraffea).
The grid spacing is 0.1 but may be changed using the Configure button.
Default material properties are (unitless; units should be kept consistent):
isotropic
E = 3200
nu = 0.2
thickness = 1
This version runs a linear-elastic analysis using the direct stiffness method.
The crack is automatically propagated 5 increments of 0.1 unit length.
If there are multiple cracks, the crack with the greatest KI grows the most and
other cracks grow an amount proportional to their KI.
Results are stress contours of the first principal stress plotted on the deformed
shape at a magnification of 100x.
The "show me the sifs" button shows the Displacement Correlation values for
KI.
